2012 Chile – Theme, Strands and Call for Papers

Theme, Strands and Call for Papers
IPMEN Chile 2012 Theme and Strands
The theme chosen for IPMEN 2012 is “Un Gran Océano, Muchos Sueños” (One Big
Ocean, Many Dreams), As with past IPMEN conferences, the underlying aim of this
theme is to focus on achieving sustainability in the Pacific via education centred
on the ocean and the concept of Ocean Literacy. In 2012 the motivation behind
the conference theme is our objective of using the establishment of marine
education in Chile as a case study for other Latin American nations.
The four IPMEN Chile 2012 conference strands
are:
  1. Marine Biodiversity.
  2. Sustainable Aquaculture.
  3. Community response and government management of
    natural ocean-related disasters.
  4. Local experiences in formal, non-formal and
    informal marine education.
